Charlotte Tilbury Magic foundation vs Light Wonder Foundation

Fans of Charlotte Tilbury will raise the question – what is the difference between the 2 and is one better than the other?

And after using her products for 4 years now, its time to review the brand again. NOTE: I have felt some CHANGES IN THEIR FORMULATION…more below…

The short answer is they will be suitable for different skin conditions.  Perhaps they both work for you but in different situations.

For those of you who follow my posts or have come across them, you will know that my HG is the LWF – mentions here and here.  In fact MOST of my make up is CT because they just work for me (I’ll put a post up soon showing ALL her products I use!).    And I still am using the LWF in Shade Fair 1, but recently I got some top ups and received a sample of the Magic Foundation in Shade 1. So time to compare!

TEXTURE & COVERAGE:

LWF is thin liquid, easy to spread, sheer to light coverage.

***Note by the way, I feel their viscosity has changed. My new topup is more runnier than it was before. I contacted them and they said they had changed one ingredient in it.    I think it may be the fact it has UV now? I can’t recall but I don’t think it did when the product first launched – but please correct me if I’m wrong so I can update.  The finish is still the same, but just feels more runnier.

MAGIC is more viscous, creamier feeling, medium to full coverage. See images below

COLOR:

They are different shades of 1. LWF is more pink based, Magic is more yellow based.

FINISH:

LWF is a glowy finish which retains moisture on the skin – even after powdering with CT’s powder.  Easy to wash off when cleansing in the evening.

MAGIC is more matte, gave a more ‘made up look’, but at the same token was drier and my skin close up appeared powdery with dry patches. From afar it does give the hint of the CT glow. Does feel light on, and is easy to wash off despite being a fuller coverage foundation, I found no need to use any strong makeup remover, I just used my regular Dr Gross cleanser .

NOTE: ALL OPINIONS ARE MY OWN SUBJECTIVE OPINIONS AND MAY VARY FROM OTHERS. ALL OPINIONS ARE ALSO MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE AND JOURNEY WITH THOSE SPECIFIC ITEMS I USE FROM HER RANGE.

I hope this has helped anyone thinking about LWF or the MAGIC foundation. I definitely still prefer the LWF. What has your experience of Charlotte Tilbury’s foundation been like? I’d love to hear your opinons 🙂

Enjoy
